The Old Me.

I’m Jessica. I was married for 22 years and blessed with 3 beautiful daughters.

I just recently stumbled upon a way to get my old self back…

I remember back in my 20s when I used to:

✅ Maintain a slim figure even while living on pizzas and burgers.

And it was not like I wasn’t trying anything to change that.

At the time, my kids were 4, 3, and 1 year old. I was spending the little free time I had at the gym. Every month was a different diet. I don’t even know how much time I spent without sugar. I couldn’t even eat my chocolate on the weekends, for Christ’s sake. But nothing seemed to work. Sometimes I’d even drop 3 or 4 on the scale, but I always regained it. I tried every weight loss program available, but none of them worked for me.

In one appointment at my doctor’s office, I weighed myself and realized how big I had gotten. I had reached 210!

It was frustrating. I couldn’t look at myself in the mirror, my energy was low all day, and none of my clothes fit me. I put my health and self-esteem aside to take care of my children.

As if things couldn’t get worse, my husband had been distant for a while. He always said it was because work was exhausting, but I knew it was because of how I looked. Then one day, he went to the market and forgot his phone at home. I made the mistake of snooping, and I wasn’t prepared for what I found.

He was having an affair with his secretary, who’s ten years younger. He told her he loved her and was only with me because of our kids. I almost threw up as I read those messages. I’d never felt anything like that before.

When my husband returned, I confronted him about the messages, and he admitted it without hesitation. He said he was in love with her and only stayed with me because the kids were still too young. That he couldn’t still desire me when I looked like this and that he had the “right to be happy”.

Besides loving him, at my size, there was no way I’d find another boyfriend, especially a husband. I was doomed to spend the rest of my life alone. So I humiliated myself and accepted this situation.

The next morning, I woke up feeling like crap, but I decided to get up and schedule an appointment with my friend Jennifer, who is also a specialist, to see if I was a candidate for surgery. I was willing to do anything to get my man back.

When I got to Jennifer’s clinic and told her about my situation, she told me that I didn’t need surgery, that I’d done nothing wrong. She said my consistent weight gain had NOTHING to do with what I ate or how much I worked out.

She then spoke quietly, glancing down the hallway as if checking if anyone in the clinic was listening. In a hushed voice, she said, “Jessica, I’ve known you for decades.
